Frequently Ask Questions

Ques: IID, What is the meaning of Project 500 or Is it a replacement of the Monthly Contribution?

Ans: Thank you. To complete it, It's called Project 500 (Please Count-Me- In).

No, it's not a replacement to the Monthly Contribution of £10. It's an initiative designed to generate money towards our Cause in such a way that people can be involved all over even if they don't want to be a Member of IID you can still lend your support in helping our people.

Though Members too are encouraged to participate in order to give the project a facelift.

The initiative came with a question as: If we start to count the population of the Ijebu Igbo Sons and Daughters in UK, is it not possible to find 500? And the guess Answer is "Yes" it's possible.

And if these 500 people are committed to donate £2 each a month to their Hometown, we are likely going to get £12,000 a year. And this £12,000 can can be used to do the projects we've been struggling to do on yearly bases.

Hence the set up of the Project 500 (Please Count Me In).

The Sitting Members are also encouraged by Voluntary if they can afford. Our Children, our Friends also who are probably working but will like not to be attending meetings for various reasons are supposed to be part of this project.

It was then evisioned that if we reach this target, the monthly Contribution will be scrapped.

To be part of this project, please contact Alhaji Kazeem Haruna Ishola.

This can also be shared among our friends who don't necessarily want be a Member but just want to help.

Hope this clears air.

Ques: IID, I often read that Someone Hosted You in one of your Events and Meetings: What is the Meaning of this Hosting?

Answer: Thank you. One of the Aims & Objectives of this Organisation is to Preserve and Promote our Culture. This is supported by Section 2...Subsections 2.2, 2.7 & 2.10 of our Constitution.

In those days, our Parents will either host the Venue or/and prepare the foods for the people attending the meeting. And this is done in turns.

Apart, since we're not sending rocket into the satellite, our meetings ought to be spiced with menu and light music, while we relax and cheer up, with the high expectations of such meetings next time. Ebi kii wonu, kii Oro emiii wo be now.

Some may be coming from Work, Church , or Alasatu, instead of going home to eat they too can be rest assured that they will be taken of at the meeting.

We are not in anyway different, it's a way to say I do belong, I do care, I do love our meeting and the people, I am cheerful giver. Imagine with our little number and if we all get involved, if we do this in turns, may be it will go round once every 3 years.

Sometimes we encourage people to fix theirs in line with their Birthdays, Wedding Anniversaries or any other notable memories though not necessarily. But it's worth getting involved, though it's not compulsory but if you can afford, why not paticipate.

This is usually supervise by the Social Secretary and the Cultural Secretary.

IID: With your Fame at the International Level, how do you organise meetings with Dignitaries who may be of a good Assistance to you if they come to London?.

Ans: Thank you. It depends on the time of the Visit. For example...We have another Hosting Initiative, though we've not been doing it for a long time now.

Whenever we are receiving Visitors who are in the category of the said Dignitaries such as the Royals, People in Government, we always use this Hosting Initiative whereby we all go to a Restaurant or Hideout. This is to provide a conducive atmosphere for the Guest while we also Socialise.

We've done it in the past and I believe we need more of such as part of the ways to move forward.

This type of Hosting is always sponsored by those who attended, and not from the Organisation purse.

The benefit in this gives us the opportunity to be identified with the Guest, make him or her proud, be able dialogue in a nice enviroment, this also is a way to promote us which in turn may send helps across our way.
